Eviation’s all-electric passenger plane Alice took to the air for its maiden test flight on September 27, 2022, a major step towards bringing electric aviation closer to commercial service.
The Alice prototype (registration N882EV) took off and successfully landed at Moses Lake Grant County International Airport (MWH), the United States.
Eviation’s Alice was unveiled at the Paris Air Show in 2019. It is a twin-engine electric aircraft, powered by 640 kW magniX magni650 engines.
According to the manufacturer, Alice will be able to carry nine people or up to 2,500 lbs. (1,134 kg) of payload for a range of up to 440 nautical miles (815 kilometers). The aircraft will be available in three configurations: commuter, executive, and cargo.
The prototype has already performed several engine runs and slow-speed taxi tests. The last round of tests was performed on September 20, 2022.
Alice’s launch customer, DHL, ordered 12 aircraft in cargo configuration in August 2021. Another customer, GlobalX, has signed a letter of intent for up to 50 Alice electric aircraft.
